that Avery has said...
Yesterday, she must have asked me twenty times -- "Mama, what time is it?" I was like... 'what do you care?' I finally started answering her with activity-related times instead of the actual time of day. Like I'd say "dinnertime" or "playtime."
She also has picked up on saying "goodbye" in different languages. A couple of weeks ago, she told Jed "adios amigo" when he was leaving for work. Today, she told some friends of ours "Au revior!" when we were leaving their house.
Her other new thing is to yell at me (it's part of the new bossy Avery) "Mama, come back soon now!" I tried to explain to her that "soon" and "now" don't mean the same thing, but she continues to say them both.
Toddler speak is the funniest shit I've ever heard, seriously.

Jacob does that time thing too. "Mama, what time is it?" And he needs an answer with numbers. I have no idea why he needs to know.
Worse though is now he wants a rundown of the day's events from the moment he wakes up until 5 days from now. As in, "what will we do next? and then what? and then what?"
I'm just waiting for him to combine the two annoying questions. Maybe I'll start printing out itineraries with times listed on them.
(sorry, I basically wrote a blog entry as a response!)

I like the combination of now and soon in the same request. :) I can picture a foot stomp to go along with it.
