I'm not giving up my day job
Although, I guess I technically don't have one.
So a few weeks ago, I had this epiphany while perusing JoAnn's craft store looking for ribbon to make some headbands for a friend's daughter. I thought I could make headbands that aren't all lame and frilly like the ones you typically see for sale, and I could sell them on the internet and make a fortune.
I bought some ribbon and decided my friend's daughter would get the first few of my many marvelous headband creations.
Then I sat down and actually tried to figure out how to make these headbands so that they were elastic on the back and could get bigger as the baby's head grew. I gave up and started over twice. The third headband came out a little better, but still nothing I'd try to sell to anyone.
Here are a couple of pictures. My friend Leslie suggested the bow on top, and a few others suggested two layers of ribbon, which I agreed about (like a solid color under the patterned ribbon) but I never got that far.

After spending about 7 hours trying to make a headband that actually worked, I finished this one and decided I either needed to find a more efficient way of doing this or give up my idea altogether. I'm not sure what I've decided. I don't think I'm ready to give up yet. Moms everywhere need ME to help save them from frilly frou-frou baby headband hell.

I honestly think its cute. I love the simplicity of the look. I'm sure it wasnt super simple to make but first runs never are. As far as making them so that they can be worn as the baby grows you might not be able to do that unless its like a buckle. Even stores sell different sizes (the good ones) because elastic will only stretch so far before it digs into their little heads.
I really love the idea, and the bow really is a nice touch. I dont think I completely expressed my whole thought but thats all my sleepy brain will allow.
And might I had you have the most beautiful model!

I LOVE it!!! What a great idea to add the little bow. :) I'd like to order one made of yellow ribbon, since that's the only color of hair accessory my child will allow me to put in her hair. How much are you charging?

Leslie -- I'll make one for free for more experience ;) What color yellow are we talking here? Pale? Bright? Mustard?

I'll pay for shipping if you can make me 3 of them for practice. Or I'll purchase them, whatever you'd like to do. I'm not picky either. Jaylen's hair is weird and too many think she's a boy.

I think you should give it a go:)You're talented, can make your on website, and have the patience.
I'll help you with marketing if you wish, and put a link on my blog:) Pls you can put a square with colours, like you have on the computer for font colours, and take orders:)
oh, and instead of a bow, can you make a rose? I used to love ribbon roses!!
and hurry up, or I might steal your idea! ;)

Oh, oh, oh! Sign me up too. I'll pay you! I can never find headband bows that aren't huge. Rob calls them Grace's "Bozo Bows", as in she looks like a clown. I'm not picky on colors either. Despite the majority of her wardrobe being pink, I STILL get asked "How old is he?
Very cute. Aren't you just a jack-of-all-trades? Websites, photography, hairbows...I see the makings of an Allie empire!
