Ainsley started to make the transition to solids today. I'd say it was an overall success, and I discovered that she even has a real taste for pork products.
My personal chef, Avery, whipped up some ham, bacon, and hotdogs. Ainsley was in hog heaven, I tell you.

Much to my chagrin, she didn't take too well to the veggies. I had a little taste myself and I must admit there was something 'artificial' about them. Darn pesticides.
She dropped the other veggies faster than Dan Quayle can spell "tomatoe." Oh wait, that was "potatoe." Still...
After dinner, the kitchen was a mess, and I promised Avery I'd help clean up. I had a closer look at things and to my shock and horror, the cooking conditions and improper food storage were really atrocious.
There was food thrown in all willy-nilly with pots and pans and utensils, with no regard for refrigeration or, gasp, organization.
I'm pretty sure the sink didn't even have running water, and have a look-see at the pink glazed donut and the carton of OJ from this morning's breakfast just tossed into the dirty dish pile. I'm fairly certain these children are missing that Wash Dishes By Hand gene, just like their father is.
There was some evidence that a small amount of some cleaning had gone on at some point, but there's no telling when it took place, and whether or not antibacterial soap was used. I kind of doubt it considering there wasn't a cleaning product in sight.
After we did some organizing and food preparation/storage education with the chef, Ainsley tried her hand at baking. Somehow she instinctually knew to lick the wire beater, and when that was clean, she started in on the dang muffin pan. I guess I can't fault her for trying to clean as she cooks.
All in all, I'd say it was a productive day in the transition to solids. Tomorrow we're going to attempt rack of lamb with a white wine sauce and creme brulee for dessert.
